I don't know where to begin, or where to look, i need an attorney for family memeber, going thru a lot of unnessary BS, worry and frustration, been goin on since pre surgery and after patiient got home. Talked to advocate previously, ok now patient is out and still more BS from Hosp and doc, had to go to ER tonite, then discharged.

Seriously, I'm not sure what value you'll find in referrals on online message boards. Pick up the yellow pages and call. Several firms do malpractice work. It's interesting though because clients can't really tell what kind of work product a firm has. "Comparison shopping" is difficult in the legal profession. When you're engaging in this, just be sure to ask very pointed questions about the firm's past experiences with this kind of claim. You want to know what you're dealing with as much as you can.

I can tell you right off the bat though that it takes an average of 5 years to get through medical malpractice claims. That's a long time. It shouldn't be that way, but it is. So just bear that in mind when starting this process.

Don't talk to anyone. Get copies of records. Find a law firm out of the jurisdiction where the incident happened. I do not know of any in PA, only New Jersey. The Commish is right and malpractice is hard to prove. Normally the attorneys will have to find a practicing doctor to review the records. If there is a claim, that expert doctor will sign the summons and complaint. It is a long drawn out emotional process, but it is well worth the fight especially if you have a good case.

Yes I have a phone book, and who do you trust, can't trust one nearby, my problem is still existing, i also realize how screwed up our legal system is as well as health professionals as they have to listen to the doctors, this is too much BS, I have to call someone.

rural lady,

Why not call the Bar Association in your area to see if you can get some recommendations there.
