no go for now. After all the celebrations last year when the Commissioners announced they would take it over and make it a park, it is now a no go for now. What a shame, this was a piece of history, the neighbors fought to keep it, even put up a bond of $10k to stop the pulling down of the dam but an outside judge came in and ruled it could go. NLT who owns it wants out and was willing to give it away with a small some of money, but noone would take it. Patsels restaurant agreed to give a significant amout of money to rebuild the dam after it was pulled down with DEP approval. It seems the DEP is pulling down 12 or so dams in Pa a year. Now it is nothing but a swamp. Fish dying etc. The neighbors tested it for chromium and it was negative contrary to what people thought.

I do not understand a group like Natural Lands Trust doing this - they are suposed to be in the conservation business. It is posted no hunting no fishing and yet when the dam went everything died.

I know the county has no money but it would have been nice even we could have made it a park to walk you dog in.

Is there no way we can get the commissioners to look at this again. I spoke to one of the engineers that looked at it - he said the dam was safe but was under pressure to say it was not. What makes Pennsylvania beautiful is the ponds and lakes - and they are being taken away all the time. I thought Gov. Rendall had some money to put towards rebuilding dams what happened to that.

I think if so many people wanted this and someone was going to donate money - someone should have said wait - lets look at this again.
We are ruining what is beautiful in Pa. our scenary.
