IIRC he said he found it in the road. Whatever, it was over 20 years ago.

The next time we were there, he found home plate and the pitching rubber in the road spike side up! This time he put them back on the field.

There's a page on Facebook dedicated to Saylor's Lake if anyone's interested. Just put "Saylor's Lake" in their search engine and it'll take you there. You'll find many interesting photos there.

Those photos of the collapsed Saylor's Lake Pavillion are just heartbreaking.

Funny how I came across this site. I spent at least 13 summers in Bishop Colony from 1972 - 1985. I was too young to enjoy the music at the pavillion but I've heard wonderful stories. I only spent summers at the Colony but most of my childhood memories involve 'the lake'. From what I understand, the owner's (Mr. Kitchen) son took it over and 'sold' the cottages to full-year residents. How I loved to see the same families every summer. Such great memories. The last time I drove through the Colony felt strange. I always looked at it as summer cottages where all the kids knew each other. Such activity. When I drove through, it felt like somewhat creepy. Like all the people were hibernating in closed up houses. The common areas of the colony looked like nobody has stepped foot there in years. Some of the cottage weren't even there anymore. As much as it has changed, I still love reliving those memories.

Yes, Mr. Kitchen's son George and his wife Linda inherited the cottages and now rent them out year round. He has winterized them but has done a good job of retaining their charm. I live in Saylorsburg and work for them when they do a remodel.
I also hung out at the Pavillion when I was a kid (late sixties, early seventies) even played there once in a rock band. Great memories...

Joe

Joe, thanks so much for the information! I live on the west coast now, but my family summered there for 50 years. I hope one day to be back in the area and see the colony again!
