I'd avoid Prescott Ave. its very run-down...not one of the nicest parts of Scranton. However, you can go within a few blocks of there and be on nice tree-lined streets with mansions and victorian houses. The Hill Section is funny....it has some of the worst and some of the nicest parts of Scranton.

This is what we want:
at least 2 bedrooms, preferably 3
half a double or a single family home
Decent Neighborhood
A house that is not completley rundown
Somewhat of a yard
We are trying to find something under $700/month so that we are able to get everything going well when we first come out....its nice to have money to see things in the town you just moved too.

We also need to be close to the city of Scranton as that is where I would be working, I would be starting at 6 am so I dont need any long crazy snow filled drives through the mountains.

I am trying to collect a list of properties because we are able to look at properties one more time in october before we are moving on 11/01.

Edited to add this:
We have mostly been looking on Craigslist....and believe me the houses always look better in the pictures they send.

I will take any help that anyone can give.

Thanks!

I would suggest if you find a place that interests you, just post the location just like you did above, and one of us can tell you if its a decent area. That's the thing about Scranton....there's good areas and bad areas, and sometimes that can change from block to block...

Look in Throop, Moosic, Olyphant also. They are close enough to be about 5 or 10 minute drive to anywhere in the city. I'm not familiar with craigslist really so I couldn't tell ya.... Try some local realtors and inquire about the rentals you seek. Look its less then a paragraph.
