Maybe its just my sets, but I never noticed this before
All of a sudden the background music is louder than the announcer, guest, or whoever is speaking. When they play background music to make a moment dramatic, it drowns out the speaker. Help !!! Is anyone else having this problem ????

Down here we had the same problem when they were converting from regular to digital service....maybe that's happening in your area???

Annoying as heck, but it got back to normal eventually...

Digital stuff?!? Hummm....JG might be right.

nkotb, Here's how I solved the pending digital issues. I tried really hard to fix it. I guess what I really need is a ten-year-old kid.

That can occur anywhere along the chain from the broadcast to your own equipment, what you're hearing is commonly referred to as "normalize" in audio editing applications or hardware. You'll notice this on different CD's too or MP3's you ripped if the software you use doesn't adjust the gain. For example your TV set will normalize the audio as you move through different channels, the amplification can be quite different on different channels or even from one commercial to the next. Quite annoying on older sets that don't have this because if you switch channels you have to adjust the audio through the volume.

The background audio where you're hearing this would be on a separate audio track. Somewhere along the lines it's being "normalized" then combined with the main tracks. The normalization should instead be done after its combined.

I' be surprised if the issue is in your equipment. Most likely it is like that on your incoming signal, whether from broadcast, cable, satellite, etc. It is the same issue that (intentionally) causes commercials to be louder than the regular content.

Thank you all responses. I do not get cable where I live and I do not have a dish, my sets are just plugged in with great reception on 7 local channels. Too bad I know have to get antennas and digital converter boxes !!!!! As someone mentioned maybe after Feb. 17, it will get better. I hope so because I have oftened stopped watching some programs because all I hear is music !!!!!
