I've been a life-long hockey and when the Baby Pens came here 10 years ago I didn't think it would fly. But now the team is so big in the area, they outsell the Pioneers and Yankees. That's pretty good for an area that loves high school football and basketball.

Ticket prices aren't a "bargain" here in smaller metropolitan areas either though. I paid $62 for two tickets a couple of weeks ago to attend the Penguins game at Wachovia Arena. If people can afford to drive their newer vehicles to Wilkes-Barre Twp. and pay $30 for a seat at a minor-league hockey game, then obviously our area isn't as impoverished as the Legion of Loons would lead you to believe at the city council podium.

$30 a seat is a deal. that same seat in a major league arena would cost over $100.00.

I think the cheapest tickets are $18.00, but even the tickets in the nose bleed sections aren't bad. There isn't a bad seat in the arena. Thier food and drink prices are outrageous though. I think it is $6.50 for a 12oz. beer. You can but a whole 12-pack of cheap beer for that much. I'm happy that our Pens continue to sell very well after ten years. I went to a game last week, and the arena was filled up. All but 200-300 seats were taken. Another thing is that the baby Pens have never had a bad season yet. I think they made the playoffs every year accept for one. Correct me if I'm wrong on that, but I think it's accurate. This year is another great year. The Pens are on a winning streak, and have won eight straight game, and are biting at the heels of first place Hershey in our division. It really is a fun and exciting night out, and well worth the price especially in the dead of winter when you have cabin feaver and there isn't much to do.

fun and exciting indeed!

the year i left was the year they had the long undefeated streak to start the year. it was also the year the entire team got called up, including the coaching staff.

food and drink is ridiculous. i have been to well over 100 pens games, and i think i had 2, maybe 3 beers there. i never had any food. You could take everyone out after the game for the price of beer and snacks. No big loss though.

The Baby Pens have only missed the playoffs twice in their previous nine seasons. They failed to qualify for the post-season in Years One and Three. They have made the Calder Cup Final three times in that span. That's pretty good. The tickets prices aren't that bad in my opinion. I went last Wednesday and got two tickets for $17 in the 202 section. Froggy 101 had coupons where you bought one and got one free. It's better to go directly to the box office so you don't have to pay the fees TicketMaster charges. You're right, there isn't a bad seat in the arena and to me every game is exciting. The food and drink prices are outrageous, that's why when I go with friends, we usually eat somewhere before we get there or after the game. I hope more people start going to the games and fill the arena down the stretch run and playoffs. It really is a great game to watch live.

I think the whole economy falling apart is a big myth. On Saturday in Dickson City, the traffic was crazy, there were lines in front of all the restaurants and the stores were packed. You would think it Christmastime. Granted it, it was Valentine's Day, but it still seems people have money to spend. I don't think it's as bad as people think it is.

Somebody should take a survey.
If the majority of attendees at these venues are from either area it should be named for that area.
Same with the Airport. If more folks are from the Wyoming valley or the Lacawanna valley it should be named for them, and drop the double naming.
Personally I hate the Yankees,so Scranton could have them all to themselves for all I care.

They don't fill the arena. They come close though.
