Hi all. My family and I are moving to the NEPA area in the next few months. My husband will be working in Berwick. We are trying to narrow down our selections of where to purchase a home. We don't want him to have to commute too far. We will base our living choice on the schools for our middle and high school kids. We are looking for a strong, academically well rated high school with an excellent band program . It looks like Lake Lehman might be a good one but it is a little far and would be an hour commute. Any recommendations on a closer area? Thanks!

I know Southern Columbia, which is just outside of Berwick, is ranked rather highly by the locals in that area for many programs, but I'm unsure of its band program's reputation. My alma mater of Pittston Area placed a VERY heavy emphasis upon its marching band and jazz band, but Pittston is about a 45-minute commute to Berwick.
Hopefully Dawne, AmeriKenArtist, or someone else familiar with the Central Susquehanna Valley will be along soon to provide their insight!
