I second Roy B Hull for a realtor; I know the family personally (went to school and worked with their kids) and they are good, honest people. My mother has also woked with Roy periodically.

Matamoras was evacuated last week (Wednesday PM?) but everyone is back in now as far as I know. I was in Dingmans Ferry yesterday (7/1) and although the river was higher than normal, I noticed no flooding.

Hi! I'm new on here and just wanted to say hello and add my 2 cents worth. I live north of Honesdale in Wayne County. I am high on a hill so I don't usually have any problem with flooding. We just had some water coming into our basement that the sump pump took care of. The advice about not living too close to a river or a stream is right on. We had lots of back roads washed out and small bridges damaged up here. The only thing we did was avoid the problem spots. After 10 years living here we know where those are. My husband and I were born and raised in New Jersey and retired in this area. We love it and would never go back.

Thanks for all the info on that.
Pensypat, where did the water come from that got into your basement??
Did it just seep in just because of all the rain or did it come in from water running down the hill??? I am going to PM you

Bamboosmom, It was just from all the rain....I have never seen the skies open up and pour so hard for so long. We live in an old 1860's farm house with a laid up stone foundation....so it is bound to get some water when the rains are so bad. Thank goodness our sump pump kept up with it. This was just very a very unusual storm. We are normally high and dry on our little mountain.
