Hi there NEPA's...I will soon be relocating to Eagle Rock, in the Hazleton area. It has been a very long and arduous process, but I am very excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

My husband, Bob, and I purchased a lakefront lot almost 4years ago...we started the planning process exactly two years ago and our build is into it's 16th month...we are expecting to move in within the next 2-4 weeks...barring an additional unexpected set backs.

After this experience we will never build another custom home...I won't go into all the gory details, but we have been taken hostage and taken for a ride!

Now I am only looking forward to settling in and getting acquainted with the area.

Bob & I have lived most of our lives in the boroughs of NYC, mostly Queens. I have lived in all 5 boroughs...Queens being the best of them!
But I am over NY...I am so ready to leave.

AH! we have BTDT---but we bought a "used" house :0). Congrats! I hope you like it here! We moved from good 'ole Brooklyn, NY--Canarsie! over just over 10 years ago---I cannot BELIEVE it has been that long. I am not too familiar with Eagle Rock---is it very isolated? Do you know people around the area? That helps a lot. We moved over not knowing a single soul! We found a nice church and so that helped. Then we moved and well, it was like starting over! But we are settling nicely once again!

Hope the move goes smoothly fer ya! Welcome :0)...

Thanks Donna,

Eagle Rock is a well developed gated community outside of Hazleton...isolated compared to NYC and some areas of L.I. It's probably a good 20 minutes to the supermarket in Hazleton. ER has lots of amenities, golf, skiing, equestrian, a lodge, spa, and a very fine restaurant. So as long as I keep the pantry well stocked, I'll be able to hold-up for a while without venturing out for entertainment.

Congrats You will need time to get used to the area but it's a nice place to live. I moved here from Ridgewood, Queens. The hardest thing to get used to was not being able to find everything you need at all times in the day.

Congrats Angela and family!!! I felt the same way when I left Brooklyn 8 months ago. I couldnt wait to get away. I was just a hair from losing my mind so I know how you feel. Everyone on NEPA forum has been very helpful and if you need to find things this is the place to do it.

We also live in a private community (The Hideout). We love it here. I have met so many friends and our lives is better here than it was in NYC.

Good luck!!

Oh Golly.......A wonderful new addition to the NEPA family. The lots sounds beautiful, and I hope you will be on to tell us more about your community. I don't think we have to much information on that community at all. I'm sure you'll start to feel at home in no time. Its far different from Brooklyn, or Queens.........but.........it will be a great way to enjoy your life. Best of luck to you.....and Welcome.
