Just took a drive through last night and it's beautiful. I'm ashamed to admit in all my years as a native Wilkes Barrean I've never been up that way.

What are your impressions of it? Good place/bad place to raise kids? Anything and everything you can think of...LOL

Very good place to raise kids. Beautiful views of the city lights. In the country, but only five minutes from the city. The only drawback is "giants despair". I would hate to have to travel up and down that hill everyday. You'd need a brake replacement every other week, and I don't even want to know how people make that commute in the winter when it is snowing! You'd have to go all the way out to rt.115, or take the baby road out to rt 309. Other then that, I would think it is a great little town.

Do you know where the kids go to school there? What high school and elementary I mean?

High scool. I would think they come to GAR or Coughlin. Elementary I'm not too sure.

Elementary would probably be Heights elementary. I know some folks that live in Georgetown & their kids went to GAR. My guess is GAR.

When I was a teenager, me and my mom used to head down Giant's Despair at night...the city lights are beautiful... and remember the castle that used to be there?
Then we'd go to that Philly Sub shop past my old Jr. High School in Georgetown...good good times!

It seems like a great place to live - only 10 mins from downtown and also still in a country atmosphere. Won't be for a year or two...but it looks like it would be a great place to move and a great compromise with the husband.
