The intent of my thread was to talk about whether impounding a car for a noise ordinance was "going too far"; I am surpriesd we are arguing whether it is a problem at all.

Why did you ask the question, then? That is a fact. They're ignorant of the invasive nature of their noises, or they know about it and are too ignorant to fix the problem. They are a lot of other things too. Would you like a list?No they're not. If they were so smart, their stereos wouldn't be audible outside their vehicles. It turns out that they're nuisance, noise-bully mechanics. There's a difference. Being a nuisance is not a hobby. It's no more of a hobby than sitting on the train with your headphones blaring for everyone else to hear, or talking on a cell phone in a restaurant.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

Like NYRangers said there is a time and a place....just show respect for each other......"they" blast music out of disrespect!!!!!

Sorry but I have a very, very hard time believing these guys spend thousands of dollars to annoy the general public. It may be an outcropping of their hobby, but I doubt it is the motivation.

I do think it's going too far and I stated that way back on Page 1 of this thread. I don't think it's a "problem" per say. It's an annoyance. Just like millions of other things in life.

Charles 22, you summed it all up. We're right, the ones against the booming car stereos and they're wrong, the pro booming car stereo people. Rep points for you.

Ack! I am not advocating the stereos here. I'm just saying that you can't legislate people to stop annoying you. That's it.

Is it really that shocking that someone who finds something annoying and doesn't do it themselves can still want to protect the annoyers' rights to do it?

OK, OK. I have nothing against you and I'm starting to like you as a poster. We've been over this a thousand times. You think it's annoying and there should not be fines. A lot of us on here believe it is annoying and they should be fined. That's your opinion and that's ours. Let's leave it at that and not go through it anymore because I think it has run it's course. I'm interested in what we can agree or disagree on next. Fair enough?

And I don't want anyone to think I'm an old fart who doesn't like loud music.
