When a person with a weapon charges at the police, the cops are well within their rights to shoot. If the criminal dies, it is unfortunate. I don't understand why race ALWAYS needs to be brought into the mix. God bless everyone involved in this mess, including the woman and her family.

No need for sarcasm. A simple, "The SPD doesn't have tasers" would suffice. They really *should* have tasers or at least rubber bullets.
