Now that I am here and settled, it's time to get out and start thrifting - where is the best thrift store in the area? We are in Madison Township, and I am always up for a drive.

I'm looking for the best Salvation Army store, the best Goodwill as well as the best independent (even though it might be smaller) thrift store.

Any recommendations?

Lisa

Kidder Street across from the Wyoming Valley Mall is home to a very large, clean, neat Salvation Army store. There is an older SA on the Sans Souci highway just south of Carey Ave.
A large, relatively neat, SA at the River St exit of Rte 81 in Scranton.
Happy hunting.

Additionally, there are at least 4 on Main Street in Honesdale and the SA in Scranton is good too. There are 2 but the larger one off the highway is best. A new one just opened in Hawley--an extension of the Wayne Memorial Hospital "Other Shop" in Honesdale as well. Seems I also recall seeing consignment shops here and there---a lot of them for this area. HTH

I've always had good luck with the Salvation Army in Scranton (on Washington Ave). What types of things are you looking for? Clothes, Furniture, etc? (never found furniture selection to be great at Scranton SA)

The SA on S Washington Ave is Scranton closed a couple months ago but the one off the River st exit of I81 is pretty good. Its clean and on Wednesday they have 50% off everything except their newest stuff.

I wish we had a good flea market around here for furniture! The Circle usually just has real junk.
