This program is offered annually and qualifying is pretty easy for many seniors. I, personally, have taken advantage of this rebate for several years.

I believe there are many seniors who may not know about it or who may be distrustful of revealing financial information to a government entity. In these cases, adult children or caretakers should make the elderly aware of this program, and others beneficial to seniors such as the $10.00 auto registration, PACE/PACENET for prescription assistance, (even if you have Medicare Part D, you may still qualify), and a reduced telephone bill if you apply for "no bells and whistles" phone service.

The lottery proceeds have supported programs for the elderly since its inception and people should really be taking advantage of it.

My mother applies for this every year and benefits from it. She usually gets several hundred $$ back, so it's definitely worth taking the time to apply.

If I read it correctly it is for income $35,000 and below a year. It is a perk that many people do not know about. I also believe in PA, if you are totally disabled from the Veteran's Administration then you are exempt from paying property taxes.

The interesting part of this is it also applies to Renters. A portion of the rent can be rebated if the income/age requirements can be met.

The state had a big push last year for people to apply for this benefit - commercials on TV, in the newspaper, and I even received a notification in the mail, even though I apply every year. I believe they were trying to reach everyone who may not have known about it.

It is sad to think that there are funds available and some not taking advantage of it. The maximum rebate is $650.00, based on the financial eligibility of the applicant, but lesser amounts are available for varying levels of income.

No problem and it's my pleasure. I am concerned that many people do not know about it so hopefully more people can take advantage of what is "rightfully theirs".
