i also agree with many other posts--good food at the boathouse; settler's inn is almost always really good (lots of locally grown/raised food available there); two guys is great for pizza in the weis shopping center in white mills (the shopping center across from home depot); my experience at fall's port inn was that it's not worth the time or money, but i only tried it once.

treat yourself to the long drive up 191n to hancock ny and try the bluestone grill, just opened in a renovated farmhouse on main street. lovely bakery on premises. i had brunch there this past weekend and it was wonderful. dinner looks even better.

I just learned that the settler's inn people will be opening a new cafe/catering place in the small stone building that is in the "parking lot" for the old castle antiques building. That little stone building without windows used to be the cocoon hut when the castle was a silk mill, so the cafe will be called the cocoon cafe. i'm excited about it!
Going to try the one in Hancock.........thanks for the suggestion. Did not know about Fort Knox......informative post. thank you.

Could someone please elaborate on the prices at Torte Knox? What I've heard about dinner there is on the urban legend level. Is it true that it costs over $100 per plate?

The new Settler's place sounds COOL!!!! I'm very excited about the new Silkmill project - esp. if they continue with the idea of a community college there.

You could get a great meal at Cora's and have a great desert at Settler's Inn. That is what we did earlier this month when we went paddling on the Lackawaxen....oh stopped by Cuckoo's Nest for a pint. That was great too.

Whoa.

I'm just simple country folk, ya know. That dere fancy vittles be a little rich for my redneck blood! LOL.

We were thrilled at a restaurant in Michigan - the five of us had a delicious meal and home made ice cream for dessert - my meal was grilled salmon cooked to perfection...and all five of us ate for $54, including the delicious dessert in a friendly atmosphere....

I would pay to see this!!! Did not know that Torte Know was that expensive, no wonder why I never heard of it. Might be nice for a special occasion.

I can't get it out of my head that Torte Knox was where my mother did her banking my entire life...The First National Bank of Hawley. I'd like to go in just to see what they've done with the place.

Tried the White Owl in Beach Lake tonight. Steaks were pretty good. Very casual. Understand it gets very busy on the weekends.
