Are there any newspapers, or places online where I can find advertisements for rooms (furnished or unfurnished) that might be for rent? I did try the Scranton Times Tribune, however I did not see any rentals of any kind. Rent.com does not shows rooms for rent. Will need something very reasonable until I'm established in Scranton. Once I'm familiar with the area I plan to purchase a house. One option would be to reside with my son in The Poconos an hour away from Scranton. Another other option might be a motel/hotel. A room would be better and most likely more affordable.

Thanks, if you happen to have any information or thoughts on this subject.

Default Newspapers

There are two more newspapers in the Scranton/Wilkes-barre area that you might try. The Citizen's Voice and The Times Leader. I will post the links to the website but I do not know if the moderator will let them stay or not. I will be moving to the Scranton area at the end of July from TN. Good luck with your move. http://www.citizensvoice.com/site/news.asp?brd=2259 and http://www.timesleader.com/

I just ran a quick search for rentals in the online classifieds of the Scranton Times and had it return 127 hits. I didn;t check each one, but the 20 or so I briefly look at looked like actual rental ads.

Click the link below, if the Mods allow it to remain, to be taken to the search results.

Good info. A nice reference is also newsdirectory.com which boasts a huge list of online daily US & international newspapers, inlcuding some college & biz newspapers & even trade magazines. You can choose your state, then newspapers by city or zipcode. Whenever I've looked about doing research on states & apts, it's been an invaluable tool. There are about 10 newspapers in the 570 zipcode, but without looking at a map, I'm unsure if all the towns are a reasonable distance from the Scranton area. Seems like Stroudsburg would be a bit of a drive, but I just wanted to provide the info.

Best of luck with apt hunting... VV

Hello,

Thanks to those who got back to me. I wasn't able to view any apartments when I went to the Scranton Times only because I have pop-up blocker and had forgotten that sometimes I have to hold down the Ctrl key. I did take a look at it again and besides apartments was able to view some jobs of interest. I was surprised that they did not have email addresses only POB addresses, at least that was the case for the couple that drew my attention.

I'll check out newsdirectory.com.

Thanks again for the information.
