He left a woman to drown at the bottom of a lake. That goes beyond "mistake" in my book. And if it wasn't for his last name, he would have done serious jail time.

I can't get past the leaving a woman to drown thing though and the money game that was played to make it all go away. Sorry!

I like the saying..."I'd rather hunt with Dick Cheney than ride with Ted Kennedy."

Go Phillies,

You are absolutely correct! Anyone else would have paid the price for that act. But, The Kennedys, are untouchable!

If there were any justice he would never have been in the senate at all - he would have been where he belonged - IN JAIL.

HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN JAIL.

He got to the Senate because of his name and he avoided jail time because of his name. I guess it's all in the name!

Yes, he should have been. I'm not saying that at all. I will say it just so it's out there - Ted Kennedy should have been in jail for what he did to MJK. There is no denying that.

*However* he also did a lot of good things in his life. If we are going to slam him for the horrible thing he did (which we should) it only makes sense to give him credit for the good he did as well.

Again, no one is denying that.

The man certainly didn't rest on his laurels though. He passed a lot of good legislation. Legislation that benefitted the poor, the elderly, the disabled, women and minorities.

Would you say the same about ...let's see...the guy who killed Martin Luther King Jr? What about Lee Harvey Oswald? I'm sure he did some good things too. John Wilkes Booth? Yeah, he was probably really nice too.

He left a woman to drown. He deserves no respect whatsoever.

Agreed Karen. I cannot praise anyone who would leave someone to drown, go back to a party and remember to notify the police the next day after he sobered up. Zero respect here.
