There is a vet in the Wilkes-Barre area that spays and neuters very cheaply. I can't think of his name right now but he has been in the news a few times for donating his services to homeless animals that need emergency care. Anyone know who I am talking about? I can find out his name and let you know.
I worked in a kill shelter years ago and we found that many declawed cats that were turned in had bitten. Apparently, that was their means of defense. Still, a declawed cat is better than a dead one.
I worked at PetSmart in Wilkes-Barre, where the Luzerene County SPCA shows cats. They did the best they could with such limited funds. I applaud their efforts against all odds.

Cats .. left to to practice their natural instincts are super hunters.
They also mate like crazy .. given the chance ...

Mother nature is a very wise woman and knows that conception is only the beginning and every living thing will die ... eventually.
She lives by survival of the fittest .. to keep species strong and allows for them to evolve and adapt ..

The cats who are not fed .. help keep the rodent population .. manageable ..
It is part of their purpose in the circle of life ..

When they are fed they have little interest in hunting.
Rodents and similar pests thrive ..
They over populate ..
They carry disease ..

In the country on farms.. outdoor cats are taken care of .. but not fed ..
The exception may be very bad winters
They are farm workers .. they have jobs ...

So ... Do not feed outdoor cats .. Do have them fixed .. let them do what they do best ...

Any one who wants to come to My house and show Me that declawing messed up their life you are welcome to.
Deny the facts all you want, but declawing is inhumane. Allow me to introduce you to the REAL facts about declawing: Should you declaw your cat? Why claw management is the answer. Welcome to declaw.org There are actual real photos out there that I could post, but I'm not going to subject you to the horrific images, despite the fact I think it may help for you to see them. If you don't have any problems with your cat now, then I'm happy for you.....they may come later in life....they may not, but that doesn't negate the fact that declawing is just wrong. I am happy that your cats are doing well, truly I am...that means one less cat on the street and that's the ultimate goal....but at least LOOK INTO alternatives PLEASE before subjecting any more cats to the declawing.

As in we should be pleased that our neighborhood's unattended house cats love to run around killing baby bunnies? I'm sorry, but if you live in a subdivision and do NOT keep your cat on a leash or on your own property via invisible fencing, adjoining property owners should NOT have to clean up their "leftovers" from their instinctual killings. It's depressing that during my whole time in PA this weekend I have not seen even ONE rabbit around. They've all been killed by errant cats.

Eyes, you can talk till the cows come home about not feeding hungry cats. Your theory is bull. I have been in humane work my entire life, been in the trenches, worked with feral colonies, etc. Unfed cats are not healthy. They are not great hunters. and if you think that being unfed and unhealthy or as you say too busy to mate due to looking for food, then you are living in some la la land I never heard of. Cats mate- healthy, unhealthy, hungry, well fed, diseased-- cats mate- period! Your theory on this perpetuates what I call the "silent suffering" that few actually see. Slowly starving kittens because Mom cat is too emaciated and full of parasites from hunting for her to produce milk. Deformed kittens doomed to an agaonizing and slow death because Mom was too malnourished to give birth to fully formed kittens. Upper respiratory infections causing the eyes of kittens to rupture and cause blindness. Feline leukemia and aids taking over a colony and causing suffering and death. Even cats that have distemper will reproduce and the kittens often have severe neurological damage rendering them unable to walk or run from cars and predators.
So don't try to sell me your skewed theory about cats not mating when they are too busy hunting. The best hunters are healty, well fed cats.
You sure hit a nerve with me!

Aside from saying to have them fixed which I agree with....your theory has to be one of the most asinine things I have read with regard to caring for outdoor cats. J5K said it best, so I'll save myself the trouble but yeeesh....talk about being misinformed.

Bloomsburg fair is near ... ask the farmers what they feed their working (barn) cats ...

Yes ... Lovely little kitties will shred the necks of bunnies or birds ... EVEN WHEN THEY ARE FED

Male cats will eviserate kittens to get a female to stop nursing and have sex

Most .. cat food is made from the putrid ground up parts of cows and chickens that most people will not eat. You know the ...
feet.. beaks ... bones .. guts .. organs .. brains ... mmmm .. now, feed the kitty.

You need to read more than "Puss and Boots" ... if you want to know the natural behavior of the feline
