Seriously, contact another water filtration company - you can probably get a comparable system for $1,000 or even less, rather than $5,000 for a rainsoft system. The rainsoft system does work - we had ours working for a few years and the water was delicious. Until the system finally failed a few years later.

This is a multi level marketing company much like vacuum salesmen and tupperware ladies...so if they stop selling them you will have nobody to contact for help unless you find another dealer somewhere.

I would not recommend purchasing a rainsoft system simply because they are GROSSLY overpriced.
A big +1 to this! Contact a local specialist. They know the local water better than anyone and will test for EXACTLY what you need. I just bought a $400 Whirlpool water filter system that back flushes/regen's itself from Lowes and it has worked perfect for what we need. AVOID RAINSOFT

I live in Nashville Tn, and I have had a RainSoft System in my home for 17 years. I have only had to have the service people come out twice and both times they only charged a simple service fee and all parts were covered under warranty. My wife had Rosetia ( red blotches on her face that burned) and she had been treated by her dermatologist for 6 years with no help. Within 90 days of installing the system, her face had nearly completely healed and she has not been to the doctor since. There is no trace of skin problems on her now. I guess I just wanted to say check out the dealership you're buying from and make sure they have a good BBB rating. Ours was A+.

Default RainSoft is not an endless cost but a savings !!

I just want to say that the PRODUCT "RainSoft" is FANTASTIC !
Awesome system and warranty.
HOWEVER your dealer MAY be the problem.
If the dealer doesn't take care of the customer then RAINSOFT gets the bad rap.
As the rep showed us; the cost of so many cleaners, and our endless quest to find the perfect detergents to clean the sludge my water left behind, the time cleaning it, as well as the sweat, frustration and damage to our health inhaling all those cleaning chemicals!! The prolonged damage to our plumbing and water heater, and energy loss was enough to realize that I was already paying in so many ways for the crapp in my water, so why not use those costs and invest in a system that saves.
Just made sense !!

Right now I have been pricing water filtration systems and water softener systems. For under $1,000 I can install the Whirlpool whole house filter and softener systems from Lowes. The OP, of this old thread stated that they spent more than $6,800. The second post on this thread stated they paid over $5,000 and that the system only lasted two years after it was paid off.

Even If I hired a plumber (which I will not) the Whirlpool system would probably cost me only $2,000. For another $400 to $700 I could even throw in the ultraviolent treatment.

It is just about price. I can replace the Whirlpool systems several times for what I would spend on your RainSoft system.

PS I do not see RainSoft listed at the Home Depot web site - possibly they dropped them?

Hey guys, im an environmentalist in the Barrie, ON area. I conduct test daily on water throughout Ontario.

With much experience i must say, you get what you pay for when it comes to filters. Most filters under a grand will softener water and remove VOC's plus maybe a bit of lead.... but theres much bigger concerns like the 19 heavy metals commonly found in water, agricultural waste such as pesticides, industrial solvents like arsenic, THM's, Pharmaceuticals, and Fluoride which isnt even naturally occuring fluoride and severly affects babies and kids under 6 in the early development of their brain and organs.

Fluoride is "supposed" to be for your teeth, think about it... its not like we gargle and swish around our 8 glasses of water to utilize all that fluoride .

Here in Ontario we use chlorine to disinfect our water. However due to the increasing environmental concerns , we can only continue to add more and more chlorine in order to keep our water safe as it travels under ground to millions of people.

Sadly most people are unaware of the height of contaminants in our water and therefore make uneducated decisions in filtration purchases as they believe they are removing what they want but they arent. Spending 6-7 grand makes sense for an entire system (2 units in basement, one under kitchen sink) that removes all contaminants in drinking/cooking water, shower water and a water softener or better yet a conditioner/refiner to correctly soften your water based on your homes grains/gallon. It should include installation and standard 10 years parts warantee. It should include a water test after to make sure the product is working (thats how you catch to see if they're equipment is bogus... but becareful as you must understand their water test; not just test it and tell you some results you want to hear).

In addition, dont use the same amount of soap that you did without a softener. Lol maybe thats why you didnt save any soap. Its an awareness though. Softeners, once programmed and installed correctly are guaranteed to reduce 75% of soap consumption. And to get trusted info use a third party, like enviromental companies and they will provide much more accurate info. Try Ecocare Lifestyle. They are a public organization dont sell them but they can recommend you to unbias products that suit your price pocket and actually fix your water issues.

Default Scammed By RainSoft

Hi I’ve been reading reviews and quotes for both RainSoft and AquaFinance the company that finances for their equipment. What grabbed my attention in your post was the skin conditions your wife has been having. We purchased our home and was approached by a rep at Home Depot about the system. I was concerned about lead and hard water. The guy came out and did a demonstration and we were completely sold. They told us that the water would be so clean that we could drink it out of our toilet bowl. So we were completely shocked when we saw that red staining still in the toilet, but we knew that the system still worked because of how the water felt. You have to keep adding salt which for the price of the system should be free, and we never received the annual free products that they spoke of. The water felt like lotion was in it. It definitely tasted clean though. However, I started having extremely bad skin rashes and breakage almost immediately after use. It was the worst case of dermatitis (what the doctors ended up diagnosing it to be) after months of lots of medication and creams it wouldn’t go away, but then our system stopped working (due to payment I think) and shortly after I stopped having the rashes and breaks of my skin REALLY BADLY. I mostly had on my neck, hands and feet. I have read reviews about the service people never coming for repair. The finance company has placed a lien on our home, and wants us to pay close to 10k to remove it. Insane since the system hasn’t worked for years. About 7 months after purchase. Haven’t been able to get in contact with RainSoft after purchasing. To anyone reading this DO NOT PURCHASE THIS SYSTEM.

We just dealt with the RainSoft salesman (through Home Depot) who did the free water test, blah blah blah. In all honesty, and as per his test as well, we have a VERY high PH level and hard water. Based on the PH and some funky red stains in our toilets and shower and such ("feels" and cleans up like algae), I'm thinking we might have bacteria issues. The water does feel "slimy" when rinsing soap off in the shower and such, so I have always been concerned with possible bacteria and only drink bottled water here.

He recommended the UV system to kill bacteria, a water conditioner for the hard water and a carbon filter system to filter out the rest- to the tune of $6800.... Price is ridiculous, but he claims they have a lifetime warranty, etc. I am not so concerned about the price- money isn't an issue, as I am the actual quality of the products. Searching google seems hit or miss with a lot of complaints, but the 'net is FULL of people complaining about stuff.. Does anyone here know anything about water filtration or, more specifically, RainSoft and have any recommendations?

With the baby bathing in it and drinking the water, and my wife having skin issues lately, I could care less about the $$$ and am more concerned about having good water here. Any opinions? My wife already said "OK" and gave him our HD credit card info, but I am seriously considering canceling it in the AM unless I hear otherwise from anyone. Thanks.
Joe

I thought to buy filtration system from Rainsoft. I googled reviews and found this thread. Thanks everyone for your opinions! I followed the link to reviews platform from the second comment. I navigated through the website and found this page: https://www.pissedconsumer.com/filtr...tems/RT-G.html You could choose another product comparing reviews and companies. What do you think? Is it reliable?
