You'd be surprised at the myriad companies the Fed's (NSA, CIA, FBI, Secret Service, etc.) are funding. I wouldn't be surprised if OnStar was one of them. US AID, used during the VietNam war, is one example.

Just Google Project Pheonix, US AID, or anything Fed related...don't be blind to what supposedly "our" government tells you or CNN for that matter. Ted Turner is owned by the White House. That's no secret. Don't go through life with horse blinder's on like so many others in the U.S. Them guy's in the White House and the 3 letter agencies are just as dirty as the criminals they try to capture around the world.

Neither am I a conspiracy theorist. But I am a veteran of the United States Navy and I do know that all isn't as it seems in this world. But anyways.....

I disagree. All the cameras do is make the criminal wear a mask. People will still be beaten, murdered and raped with cameras. Cameras never step in to stop a situation, they just create a historical account of it. the cost of technicians to maintain and monitor the system is presumably as much as a police officers salary. A police officer has a much better chance of stopping a dangerous situation than a camera does. Just look at how many stores with cameras STILL get robbed.

If I'm murdered and the killer is caught on tape I'm still dead!

Satellites don't orbit the earth for the convenience of Geocachers. The internet wasn't created so that the masses could enjoy visiting CityData. Yes, I know that you know that. The average citizen finds out about some of the crazy things which governments have done 30 or 50 years after the fact when documents have been declassified.

If the CIA was slipping LSD to unsuspecting "test subjects" in the '60s, what are they doing now?

I agree with you; the cameras are not going to stop crime.

Ok, I can totally get onboard with the testing unknowing subjects thing - I could totally see gov'ts doing that.

But why the heck would the gov't care if I am driving my kids to Mickey D's or on my way to Baltimore for vacation or whatever?
