As I mentioned in another post, my wife and I planned on spending our one year anniversary in Jim Thorpe. We ended our honeymoon last year there and couldn't wait to get back. The drive to Jim Thorpe from Pittsburgh last Friday was nasty and cold. We met a fair amount of snow near State College, but nothing that held traffic up. We got in town around 7pm, at at JT's and had their 24oz steak for 16.99! Saturday was the fall festival and it was rainy and nasty for most of the day, but we made the best of it. We had dinner that evening at the Albright Mansion which was fabulous. Sunday we took in more of the festival, then set off for the Reading area around noon. We didn't plan on it but stopped at Cabela's. We didn't stay long there, waaaaaaay to many people. We had our anniversary dinner at Austin's in West Lawn, which I highly recommend. I kind of fell in love with that community, and was amazed at all the large expensive homes in that area. We also found Jon and Kate Gosselin's home. We headed back to Jim Thorpe that evening, taking I-476 back to the area, not before noticing lots of expansive condo and apartment buildings. Seems like the economy isn't so bad in that area?

All in all, can't wait to get back.

The last two days up here by Lake Wallenpaupack have been phenomenally beautiful.

My wife has a terrific career at one of the major universities in the area. I promised her from the start of our relationships that I would never take that from her. If she didn't, I know I could use my career to transfer to the area in a second. NEPA seems to have the best to offer as far as supporting my interests and hobbies (mountain biking, hiking, nature in general, culture). And again, I was pleasantly surprised to see all of the massive apartment and condo complexes.
