My sister is having an issue with a used car she just bought and
I was hoping that someone on here might be able to lend some
advice. I am going to go out of my way here to not identify the
dealer as the issue is still somewhat being resolved. Just curious
as to what her rights may be.

Anyway, like I said, my sister purchased a used car a couple weeks
ago. The car supposedly came with a 3 month, 4500 mileage
warranty. At the time everything seemed to be working fine with
the car, but now it's two-three weeks later and a lot of the little
electrical stuff is acting up or not working at all. The biggest
problem is that the car doesn't have any heat at this point either.

She took the car back to where she bought it and they're giving
her a song and dance, saying that she'll have to cover repairs.
When she brought up the warranty, they told her that "heat
wasn't covered, and it wasn't considered an important feature
of the vehicle." They eventually said "you don't need it."

They're looking the car over but at this point she's so turned off
by the whole thing, and worried that something else may go wrong
that she would rather they just take the vehicle back. Since it's
less that 30 days from purchase I think she may have a leg to stand
on. They are refusing to give her a refund at this time. Keep in
mind this was not a $1500 car, she spent close to 10k on it.

There are other small issues like I said, one being that they did not
provide her with a key fob, and the alarm goes off every single time
the doors are opened with the key.

Options?

I'm reading through a couple articles here, as I said the car is used and, of course, is
just barely out of the factory warranty coverage. I think she may have recourse under
the 'Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.'

Drive it into NYC Like the Bronx or Uptown , .. Pull up to a corner deli . get out leaving the window open and the car running and just the ignition key in the ignition.. Go into the store and look around .. take a few minutes,,, make a cup of coffee .. after you pay and get a receipt go outside .. Your problem WILL BE GONE ...

I hope you didn't buy the car from a Rosado dealership, they are the king of selling lemons to unsuspecting buyers.

No, it wasn't from Rosado. I ran a carfax on it and everything came back clean. It was
a NJ vehicle though, so I don't know if that would 'wash' a lemon branding off the title.

She told me that she found a remote for an aftermarket CD player which is no longer in the
vehicle, so I'm thinking that may be the cause of her problems. If the previous owner
swapped the old stereo back into the car, a good deal of the wiring and hookups for the
heat/AC is directly behind and around the stereos on this type of car. Something could
very easily have been disturbed.

I told her to contact the Consumer Protection Bureau of the Pennsylvania Attorney
General's Office and go from there.
