I've been born and raised in Pittston, and I currently live just outside of the city limits in a subdivision. I'll be more than happy to help you with any and all concerns you might have.

There are a few mobile home communities near Pittston, but I don't know if any of them have web sites. Here's the ones I can think of:

Heather Highlands
Quiet Cove
Paradise on the River

All three of these are just south of Pittston in Jenkins Township, and all three are roughly a 10-minute drive to Wilkes-Barre (pop. 40,000), which has shopping areas, nightlife, restaurants, concerts, sporting events, casino, etc.

I know this area like the back of my hand and have been up and down every little nook and cranny here. I look forward to answering any more questions you might have, and welcome in advance to NEPA!

Pittston itself has a small, declining downtown area and is home to about 7,700 people. The town has fallen on some hard economic times, but I think the tide will be turning here by next year, when 100+ new upscale penthouse condos are going to be built on the downtown waterfront, just a block from Main Street. I can foresee new little mom-and-pop ventures springing back up again by 2010. Parts of the city look a bit "sketchy" with unkempt homes, but the crime rate in town is quite low.

Just across the Susquehanna River from Pittston is West Pittston, also known as the "Garden Village" due to its shade trees. I did a photo tour of West Pittston, which can be found here:

One of the best reasons to live in or near Pittston is that you'll only be 15 minutes to either Scranton or Wilkes-Barre, so you can experience the best of both cities while still coming home to a small town. We're also just 5 minutes from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport.

Good morning Anthony.

Heather Highlands is a rather large, sprawling mobile home community in a convenient area. There are a few bad seeds here and there, as with any local mobile home park, but overall it's not a bad place to call home. My parents lived there before moving out here to the suburbs.

Here's a brief description provided by Rent.com: http://www.rent.com/rentals/pennsylv...ttston/666279/

West Pittston is directly across the river from Pittston, but it would probably not be what you are looking for, as there aren't any mobile home communities there. There is one not far outside of West Pittston called "Mount Lookout" in the neighboring town of Exeter though.

::::waving frantically at her Screen Name::::

West Pittston is just across the river from Pittston - it's a great place. You know, there are some sweet little homes that could be bought for not much more than a trailer...

Welcome home -

Linda
