I think it's safe to say that most of us on this board come on here to help others, pass on some relevant information, and maybe learn a few things about others in the process and hear their opinions. Some times we argue, but at the end of the night, we turn off our computers and spend time living our lives with people that we care about.

BTW, sorry to tell you this, but you have succumbed.
You took the works right out of my mouth!! That's it Paul, get off the internet and these boards and get out there and live your life, you're on here wayyyyyy to much complaining for someone so young. Learn how to deal with people face to face and you might be surprised. You're a smart guy, get out there and change things, i know you can do it.

I agree. Nothing we say on these messages boards is going to matter years from now and the area will still be the same. Some things you can't change, they were always like this and will always be like this and some people are just fine with it. I'm not from this area and Scranton is not my hometown, so I'm very apathetic here.

While I disagree with Paul - I have to also disagree that the internet/message boards don't mean anything.

I know that I've changed my mind on MANY subjects because of debating on message boards. It's a great way to exchange ideas and information.

I agree that this forum is a great way of exchanging ideas, info and opinions, but I don't think what we say here is going to sway people either way. People ultimately have to make the own choices and decisions.

Well yes, of course. But what I'm saying is that I wouldn't have been introduced to a lot of ideas that I've come to embrace if it weren't for message boards.

(And yes, I do have quite a full life )

It's all in the way that people present their ideas and opinions. Personally, I don't respond well to people who push their idea as the only one that is correct and anyone that doesn't agree must be stupid (or any other of a number of reasons). A lot depends on the issue; some are black and white and some have shades of gray. I'm willing to listen to any opinion that is presented respectfully, but I don't usually change my mind.

Too much trouble to remove posts for being off topic when the OP seems to invite that anyway. Let's move on.
