Scranton definitely has the better "vibe" for younger people because all of its night clubs, bars, pubs, theaters, etc. are tightly-concentrated within walking distance in its downtown, whereas they're all
spread out pretty far and need to be driven to in Lower Monroe County.
Nevertheless, I'd recommend for anyone who is interested in working for Sanofi-Pasteur Pharmaceuticals to head no further north than Mt. Pocono to live. I often champion the Moscow/North Pocono area of Southern Lackawanna County as being a great place to live, but your winter commutes along I-380 could be a killer (literally), as the stretch of I-380 between North Pocono and Mt. Pocono is notorious for being an ice-skating rink during inclement weather.
I wouldn't dare advise you to look into Scranton for this reason (unless you're able to tele-commute from your future home during inclement weather or rearrange your work schedule, at which point I say GO FOR IT!)
