Hi,

I am a young professional working in Princeton,NJ in BMS(bristol myers squibb) pharmaceuticals. I got a really lucrative contract offer(1 year) from Sanofi Pasteur in Swiftwater,PA, which I am planning to take, not only for the monetary part, but also as a change from my lifestyle here. I have been following this forum recently, and have learnt that Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg and Scranton areas would almost be equidistant for me, for my commute to Swiftwater. I am a lil confused though, about which area to choose. I am presently living in Princeton University apartments with my friend, so I dont have a lot of stuff(furniture et al) with me to move. Like Princeton, I would love to stay in a place which offers me a chance to mingle with a few people and make new friends, with a balance of city life and country living. I am sure you know what I am alluding to. Weekend trips to NYC is an option too, so a place which offers an easier commute would be slightly better. I contacted "The Lofts@Mill" after reading some rave reviews about that place, but they dont have any openings till next quarter. Can anyone please help me to decide which place I should go for. Thanks

Congrats on the new job. Most contract jobs at Sanofi lead to permanent. I know many people who work there.

Can I ask if you used Manpower agency to land it or directly applied at the company?

Stroudsburg is WAAAAAAAYYYYYY closer to swiftwater than Scranton. I don't know how you could say equi-distant---thats totally wrong.

I would stick to living in the poconos rather than north in scranton. Its also an easier commute to friends in NJ and NYC.

Thanks for a prompt reply.

Molly-You are right! Stroudsburg is much closer to swiftwater than Scranton. Yes,I am working with a manpower agency which have Sanofi as their clients. I understand that you are a local area expert for Poconos Can you suggest me a decent apartment complex or any other place which is not very remote? How is area around ESU? Would there be any place to stay near the university?

Dorothy- Thanks for the info but I am looking more at renting a house than buying.

I would know of any apartment complex off the top of my head. But you can try the local paper at Pocono Record - serving Monroe and Pike Counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania

and a map

http://www.poconoliving.net/inc/img/map.gif (broken link)

stick to just south and north of 611

and don't go past mt. pocono/tobyhanna area.

Hello there, I was reading this post and it interested me. I also have an offer from Sanofi to join them as a summer intern. I have been looking around for apartments or roommates. I was wondering if you have could give me some information or some good places to start my search.

Default Sanofi

Great place to work, a good reputation .......as one of better wage places.
The Pocono Record had quite a few rental listings today.
Try calling a few. I'd go from Stroudsburg, to Swiftwater or South to Saylorsburg, Brodheadsville, Readers.
There are not a ton of apartments really........thats why its hard to think of one. Camelback may have rentals, but because of the winter skiing they could go high. There are a few ( two) that I can think of that are apts. in Mt Pocono......one on the Pocono end of 447......Anyone remember the name?
Molly?

hi there, No I can't say where the Apt. are...hmmmm...I would totally check out the Pocono Record - serving Monroe and Pike Counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania for rentals and check craigslist: poconos classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events for rentals/roomates.
