Looking for a place near Wilkes-Barre (apartment complexes, rentals, condo)

We're considering a job offer in Wilkes-Barre and will be renting for at least a year if we accept. Does anyone know of any really nice condo or apartment complexes with rentals in or pretty near Wilkes-Barre? To give a little more information, we don't want to make a commute of more than about 8 miles. We want someplace safe, without rowdy neighbors, clean and comfortable. We can easily pay the going rate for what we're looking for.

How hard or easy is it to find a rental like this in the area we'd be looking at? Are there places we should avoid? (we'll only have a few days to find a place, and don't want to waste our time looking at places that won't suit). We need at least two bedrooms, 2 baths (or a bath and a half), parking for two cars, washer/dryer and good storage/closet space. We'd like to consider houses, if there are any nice rentals, but as I said we won't have a lot of time to make the decision and so many houses turn out to be in bad neighborhoods or otherwise just not nice places to live. Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.
