Home Phone Service (York: house, cheapest, land)

I just bought in Masthope area and I need phone service.I do not have internet so I am wondering if anyone knows of any cheap companies?
The House is just a weekend home..

Your TV cable provider could possibly offer phone service to your area? Do you ever want an internet connection? Possibly you could bundle services to get better rates? How is your cell phone reception? You say weekend use - what communication demand do you have (business/pleasure/etc.)?
In the last month and a half I have had my fill of Verizon. Most of my problems stem from a company that does not know how to communicate. They love robotic calls, the hold buttons, operators with strong accents, and unfriendly customer service representatives. I am sure that there are some that have had a better experience? I cannot distance myself quick enough from this company.

I've had Verizon for the last two years...no problems at all. We also use our home on weekends. Need the phone line for the alarm system. However, I have what I think is their cheapest plan...about $24.00 per month. Have an answering machine hooked up without a battery backup. This way, a phone call to the house lets me know that I have electric. It's a comfort to me in New York to know the power is not out in PA during a storm.

I never had any problems with Verizon until I talked to them. All I did was ask for their broadband internet. That was in January of this year. In the phone calls that ensued; we went from being supporters (only trying to add another one of their services) to opponents that cannot run fast enough away from contact with this company.

I also have Verizon cell service. Rarely am I unable to get a signal. In fact, I always use the cell instead of the land line...it's cheaper that way.
