If you want to go to a parade this weekend with kids, I would recommend Wilkes-Barre's parade over Scranton's. It a little smaller, but has been growing, and is definitely more low-key with the drunkenness. Although, the past couple of years, I have seen more advertising from the bars and that they seem to want it to be another big drunkfest like the Scranton parade, but it hasn't reached the level of partying in Scranton by a long shot. I would have no fears of taking kids to the Wilkes-Barre parade on Sunday...but it doesn't look like the weather is going to cooperate.

Not very astute people behind that website.

The perfect formula of juvenile humor, constant intoxication, plenty o’ smiles, and the shocker. Parade moms detest us. Bartenders love us. City hall refuses to acknowledge us. However, everyone stares in awe from our astounding inebriated antics.

I've gone to the parade several times....to 'watch' the parade! I'm, a people watcher...I did a lot of walking, and didn't see anything that horrified me ever. Never saw any one peeing on the sidewalk...actually...it was pretty crowded so...just can't picture that one....not saying it doesn't happen! I've always enjoyed myself, and the parade....and enjoyed it sober. If I had small children, I would stand somewhere near the Steamtown Mall...they will enjoy it. I usually park in the parking garage that is kinda across the street from the mall..the entrance is around the corner...sorry, don't know the exact street by name.

Have fun!

I live a 3 hour drive from the parade and if it didn't rain, I would be there because it's a great parade! If you find a spot away from a bar, you might not even notice there are people drinking.

Total amateur hour. I'm making breakfast at my place with mimosas around noon. Then down to see all the freaks. With any luck the rain will just wash all the scum from the face of the earth.

If I have to look for a place away from drunks neither myself nor my son belong there. There are just certian behaviors I do not want him to see and assume that is how adults behave on a holiday...sorry but I want him to learn about the holiday and not think alcohol makes it the holiday.
