I've been laid up from surgery thanks for bringing up the taxes your saving me the typing. The cities leadership is the single and only reason for our lack of retail growth in Scranton.

Anyways, I like the Shoppes at Montage....Christmas Tree Shop, Panchero's, Portrait Innovations, and a Childrens Place that's not in the ghetto swap meet otherwise known as the Steamtown Mall. There are a lot of stores up there that didn't exist in this area before the Shoppes were built. And the ones that did move from Steamtown....can you blame them? If you want to pin the blame on anything for businesses moving out of Scranton, blame the city's oppressive mercantile tax and the lowlife ghetto trash that hangs around by Steamtown, not the Shoppes at Montage. Because if those stores didn't go to Moosic, they would have went to Dickson City, not Scranton anyways.
To me, they're a horrible, needless blight on the landscape. Such new development in an area that's shrinking (or maybe stabilized) is a waste, even worse that all that Montage ugliness looms over the valley.

I'm with you on the tax situation in Scranton, but I haven't had any problems at Steamtown. I'm not much of a chain store shopper, but I'll go to Steamtown over the Shoppes or Viewmont if I can find the same thing. More convenient, and I'd rather support businesses in the city than ones that are raping the surrounding landscape.
