Hi I am another potential relocator to Pike county area and I am interested in the lake communities. How is it living year round in communities where there is an influx of people? I have heard that some communities have only 30% year round residence. Are there communities that are only year round residence? No rentals or summer homes? How are the communities near Milford like Goldkey and Sunrise Lakes? How about further west Conosaugh Lake or Hemlock farms?
Thanks for your time and thought.

The area is amazing. Do not hesitate. Your favorite saying will become "I wish these people would get off my Mountain". Only because they have a problem adjusting to the driving in the mountains because they are gawking at everything. Other than that take possesion and enjoy. "LAKE WALLENPAUPACK" yaaaaaahhhhhhh.

Hi Missy Ann,

I moved within the last month to Dingman's Ferry - Pocono Mountain Lake Forest. We moved from California. I love it here so far. On our street, most of the residents are weekenders. The roads can get somehwat crowded, there are many folks on vacation and others who engage in tailgating while taking the curvy mountain roads. Sometimes it's so quiet here that I only hear the insects, birds and wild turkeys. What did surprise me is the proximity to larger towns. It's a very quick drive to movies and shopping in Middletown, Scranton, East Stroudsburgh and New Jersey. The cheapest gas in the country is a 15 minute drive away.

It's incredibly scenic. There are enough visitors here so you won't feel isolated. Downtown Milford was hopping yesterday! There's great antiques and home furnishings shopping, and interesting restaurants. The downtown strikes a balance of Mayberry and upscale.

Smile Milford Area

Thanks for the input I was out there on Sunday and we road past Twin Lakes anybody have any input on the houses up that way. Welove Milford itself but don't think we can afford what we need there so we are looking on the outskirts. Twin Lakes was only 5 miles or so away. Any input would be great

Lets not forget about Fawn Lake Forest which has 2 lakes. A beautiful, laid back community within 10 minutes of the quaint town of Hawley and Lake Wallenpapauck. A great place to live!!!
