Well our hotel was placed so nicely by all the museums and the Capitol building.
You can walk from the Holiday Inn to the Air and Space in a minute.
We got a taxi right out front to go to the Washington Monument and the Memorials that are all in one place along with the Lincoln Memorial. ( taxi ride for 3 is just about 10 dollars)
Also, right next door was the subway to Arlington which is inexpensive also. When there you need to do the tour which is not much for kids and about $7 for an adult.
So..........if you use the transportation features you can save some long, long, walks. We walked all day besides saving ourselves a bit more. Ouch, the feet!
We drove to the White House and parked in a lot which was about ten dollars. Watch all the lights, they are not overhead but on the side, and some quite hidden in the trees. Every short block has a light. Just remember......light, light, light. Plus, forget the parking on the street. The signs seem to act like you can. No parking Mon-fri....but...We were told on a Sunday it was "No Parking" too.....
In the 600 building by our hotel was a bank and some nice food places, along with our restaurants in the hotel. Awesome, awesome adventure.
The kids learned a ton of information and got to see up front and personal all that history. Beaming faces, we had.
They seemed to enjoy the Space information and items involved. Ships and capsules....moon rocks and lunar landers. They enjoyed hearing the history of Arlington Cemetary. They were very much into the Kennedy family and what happened. Such a sad story to tell............

Thank you for asking Alleycat.........That is a fun show. Our friends won an award or two there, one for a fantastic chess set. We attended the event last year with the three little fellows. This year however there is some pending issues with the little four year old and we have to watch his little brother.
The bigger boys will be disappointed for sure.......If plans change at all we will go again.
They loved the Steamboat Inn, but this time we were going to stay at the place with the water park.
Oh, if I could sometimes just cut myself in half.......

Yes, I hate when there's two wonderful things that I want (or need) to be at on the same day. This happens to me most around the holidays. There are so many good fairs, parties, and events that you can't make all of them.

I probably won't be able to make this festival either. We got some good news about a friend's health and are planning a trip to visit him to celebrate that they finally found out what's been making him sick and it's curable. We wanted to visit before his upcoming surgery - which pretty much leaves that weekend since I'm already booked the next few weekends. Oh well!

Somehow the "Bucket List" is on the Pennsylvania ( reg.) thread.........I was so hoping to hear what everyone would put on their list. I hope some of you do that........( I've seen this done elsewhere)
It can be so interesting to note how people react when they think of having a final day or so on the earth.......what exactly becomes important. What would you have done that you didn't do?
Just what is the most important thing to accomplish right now?

Lil Alley.........I know it I am so booked up this summer also.

You know. I think that this forum is "Alive and Well"
Changes? Sure, but that goes with the territory.
The are the "Perpetually Negative and Nasty Posters" - but by, and large most of the positive peeps still post with regularity!
