Pick up the book "The Greatest Generation" by Tom Brokaw. It's about the WW 2 generation and some of the hardships they overcame. Just prior to the war millions of Men traveled the country searching for work, so maybe history is repeating itself or maybe repealing past experiments by younger generations moving (Bright flight) back to the cities. Oh and by the way I meant no age disparity in my prior post, and apologize if that remark offended you. I am 56 and my "kids" are 35 and 36 respectively. I fervantly hope you will locate that "decent job", and that it will be something you love to do. I had one of those for 27 yrs, I was a gardener/landscaper and when I knew it was time to stop I did, I then found the "decent job that paid VERY well in communications,(with only a 12th grade high school education,) made it 11 yrs before being downsized and now I am back at gardening, but it pays the bills, keeps the rain off our heads and food,(not filet m mind you lol) in our bellies. No stress.

The Greatest Generation is a fantastic book. I completely agree. I am not sure though, if today's world can really run that many parallels to the people in that book. Maybe you can.

I agree that people seem to be overwhelmed by commercialism, and I am sure my generation (30+ years) are probably more guilty of it than those before us. But for me personally, I live in a place now with low cost of living and my income is about double what I could find comparably in NEPA. I wish it wasn't so, but it is. I am sure I am not the only one that sees this. The NEPA economy is just too small to handle an influx of workers.

PS I was not offended, it just perked my interest. Thanks!
