Any promotion for internet services in Springfiled area (22153), we just moved. Verizon has triple bundle for 89.99 + tax, which includes FIOS + TV + Phone for new customers. For us just the internet service would suffice as we have VOIP service.

We went with satellite for TV (dish network) and cox for internet. Ended up being significantly cheaper than verizon for the channels and dvr we wanted, and we've been happy with both.

Anything but Cox. I despised Cox internet. I love Verizon FIOS! My stress levels went way down when we switched.

In The Hampton Roads area, Cox sells bare Internet service.

I actually have a 768/512 service (starter) at $19.95 a month, but I don't know if they offer that in your area (might be buried at website or may have to ask csr on phone).

I would guess they offer slightly faster service around $30.

At least in Hampton Roads, you don't get all kinds of taxes and surcharges like you do with phone, too, so it really does cost just $20 a month. Some video streaming will stutter at that speed and not sure what would happen with multiple users on at same time, but even 3/768 plan at $30 or so dollars seems very fair.

If you only need 768 /512, might call them up and see if they offer an unadvertised starter package: http://ww2.cox.com/residential/north...l-internet.cox

Verizon Triple Play in different market (YMMV): http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/1009612/

Default Comcast?

Is comcast not available in Springfield (22153) ?

The 768/512 service (starter) at $19.95 a month with cox is available for only 3 months I believe.

I take back everything I said above about Verizon. Their email has been down for three days now. Trying to "chat" with an online representative, the connection disconnected. Trying to call them, I stayed on hold for 15 minutes before giving up.

I don't think Comcast is available in Fairfax County, but can't say for sure.

I couldn't get it in 22151 Too bad, I really liked Comcast. (And I know I'm in the minority there--but I had a great experience with them!)
