Hi. I've been told that someone living near Roberts Road & New Guinea had a choice of sending her kids to either Robinson or Lake Braddock & in fact, went to LB one year then switched to Robinson. Is this true? How can I verify this info? (I don't see anything about it on the schools' websites). thanks!

I haven't heard of this. The only person I know who had a choice between those two schools was a child who graduated from the gifted program at Oak View. Have you looked up the address at the FCPS boundary info system: Fairfax County Public Schools Boundary Information

Could be wrong on this, but I think the immediate area around the intersection of Roberts and New Guinea is assigned to Robinson, not Lake Braddock. However, it's close to the boundary between the two schools.

In addition, Robinson has an IB program, and Lake Braddock has an AP program, so a student in the Robinson district who wanted to attend Lake Braddock could transfer if he or she agreed to take pre-AP or AP courses, and then transfer back to his or her base school the following year.

When we moved to Burke, our kids were zoned for Braddock. But my daughter was enrolled in the IB Program and her previous school. Because of that, we were granted a transfer to Robinson so that she could continue with IB.

...And she ended up turning down the transfer to go to her home school....Lake Braddock and doing AP.

Honestly, she would have been happy in either school. She just decided that she wanted to go to school with the kids in the neighborhood. Both are excellent schools!

Lake Braddock and Robinson are great schools, but I prefer Lake Braddock. It might be smaller, but It looks bigger and wider as you get inside. More room and great teachers.
