Anyone had a great experience with your child and a ENT specialist? Our 5 year old most likely will need her tonsils and adnoids removed, so we are looking for a personal recommendation. Also, were is the best hospital in fairfax to stay with a child? Any information would be helpful.
Thank you

Try Dr. Michael Mellis in Reston/Leesburg/Centreville. He is the ENT specialist we used between my son's primary care physician and the doctor who did the surgery on his ears. I'm not sure if Mellis would do the tonsil/adnoid surgery, but he's a starting point. Some of hubby's coworkers also use Mellis for their kids and like him a lot. LMGDoctors.com :: Providers at Northern Virginia ENT Associates (Oto) (http://lmgdoctors.com/provider/providers.php?practice_id=41 - broken link)

Mellis then referred us to Dr. H. Jeffrey Kim at Georgetown University Hospital for the surgery. My son's surgery for a perforated ear drum didn't require an overnight visit, but a really long day at the hospital.

I seond Dr Mellis. I used to be a marketing rep and visited ENT's almost daily. I would highly recommend. Dr Silva was a great Dr too with kids...but not sure if he is practicing anymore due to legal troubles. (unrelated to healthcare) Mellis is in Reston, Ashburn, and Centreville.

We use Dr. Batti located in Fairfax office; http://www.otolaryngology-assoc.com/ for ear issues. He diagnosed her issues (tubes and submucous cleft palate), the only ENT to do so in over a year of having issues. Our daughter had tubes put in and reconstructive surgery on her palate. Surgery took place at Inova @ Gallows and they were also great! We stayed for two nights after surgery. All in all a good experience, great anesthesiologist and recovery section. While our issue/diagnosis is different than yours, I would feel comfortable with having tonsil/adenoids done with this practice/hospital too. Good luck and feel free to PM me for more info.

Dr. Bahadori is fantastic. Took out my daughter's adenoids and inserted tubes in her ears. He's with the same office as Dr. Batti, and the link is in the above post. He came recommended by many friends, and now has my recommendation, too.

We went to Hopkins for my daughter's surgery and had a fabulous experience. The whole hospital system seems geared toward excellence, and always improving its medical care. We wound up there because, oddly enough, they could get us in before Dr. Bahadori could. I would definitely go to Baltimore again for surgery, but driving back home with a post-op 5-year-old might be challenging.
