Are there any decent 1BR apartments in Ballston area (or near) under $1500/month? My girl-friend currently lives in Avalon Ballston, and her rent was raised again to ~$1700/month, which is pretty high for her income. She is not ready to compromise the location and to move to suburbs. She loves/wants to continue staying in the city- Ballston, Rosslyn, Arlington, DC area, where there are people/singles, life, activities :-) Safety, relatively nice complex, light, cleanness are on her list, as well. I have been living in Fairfax County for a while, so I fully understand that this is a lot to ask for such “low” price, but I wanted to check with the experts anyway :-) So any recommendations that I could pass to my friend? Thanks so much!

Schlosberg Properties -- The Barton House, Arlington VA

Virginia Management - Potomac Towers

If she doesn't have to live in Arlington, The Halstead or The Wilton House are several metro stops away at Dunn Loring ($1400 for 1 bedroom seems to be fair market value here).

I would try craigslist. Here's one that I found:

1br/ 1ba Apt (850 sq/ft) available 9/11 (http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/apa/1892094546.html - broken link)
