Daughter lives in Falls Church. Appointment for her newborn tomorrow 9/8/10 in ROckville at 8:00 AM for outpatient surgical procedure.

What time should we leave Falls Church to be sure to be there on time?

I'm thinking beltway to 270 etc etc. Is there another way?

I'm grand-dad from out of town here trying to help out. Much thanks!!

I'd leave around 7 am in your situation, but that's me.

I would leave before 7:00 because she has a newborn who she is not used to carting around. She needs to find parking, the entrance to the hospital/doctor's office. She needs to ride the elevator or find where she needs to check in. Better to be early than frazzled with a newborn. I would leave at 6:45 or even 6:30 to be safe. She'll probably get there early but she'll probably have to fill out paperwork, feed the baby or change the baby. On a regular basis, it should be about a 45 minute ride but in this situation, it makes sense to add in a healthy slack time including time to account for traffic or making a wrong turn.

If she is traveling to Shady Grove Hospital or that area, then yes, 495 to I-270. Once she hits I-270, there is usually no traffic as it's reverse of how everyone else is traveling.

Hope the baby has a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

I agree with michgc - better to pad the time when dealing with the baby. I would leave at 6:30 if it were me.
