Apparently the best way to get rid of them is to get chickens--they love to eat 'em!

Of course, then we'd all be complaining about chickens taking over suburbia

One of my favorite cartoons And you know that if the stinkbugs are here, then the camel crickets are not far behind

From: Steve Moore's "In The Bleachers"

Yup we have them too. My husband let two in last night. Needless to say he was frantic. So, if they actually "let 'er rip" what do they smell like? I thought my dog made a stink in the kitchen last night, but maybe it was a bug? It wasn't me!!!!!!!

I found the easiest way to send them to stinkbug hereafter -- without running the risk of their engaging in chemical warfare -- is to gently tap them off the wall in a small plastic deli container, immediately snap the lid on, and put the container in the freezer. They're dead in less than 10 minutes. This way, there's no chance of setting them off if, for example, you're carrying them in a tissue to flush down the toilet. If they go off in the closed container, just toss the container out.

Works like a charm every time.

Previously, when I sprayed some from literally inches away with insecticide, they were still moving about hours later before eventually dying.

Well as soon as I got out of my car at work (in MD) I had one latch onto my shirt...eww. Then, I went into my building, only to find about 10 more inside everywhere. Ick.

We have tons of them and I have been doing lots of research on them as a result. For one, they do eat Japanese beetles but that's as far as their "benefits" go in the garden (or anywhere else, for that matter.) They damage the hell out of crops, including my beloved tomatoes!

Don't crush them, inside or out, b/c the scent just attract MORE of them. Inside, fill a jar w/ a few inches of water, squirt some dish soap in there, and hold it under them. They fall inside (I have no idea why they do this when you're just holding the jar beneath them) and drown. Put a lid on the jar to keep the smell from emitting.

Also, look for their eggs (Google-image stinkbug eggs) beneath low-growing vegetation and destroy.

My house is infested with them. This has been happening over the past 3 weeks. Yesterday in the morning we left and there were the usual 100 or so in the living room. We came back after work and there were about 400. I have no idea how this happened. We vacuumed them all up. We wait a few hours. There are about 75. This morning there were 75. Tonight when I came home from work there were 200.

How long will they last and what can I do about them besides vacuuming? We have no idea how they're getting in. We don't leave windows open. This is really annoying!

Hmm, I hope you were planning to replace the vacuum...At least my vacuum would crush them and the exhaust wouldn't smell to good afterwards if I was vacuuming stink bugs.

I'd check the weather stripping around your doors to begin with and then around windows, but to be honest they could be coming through so many different cracks it might be hard to locate.

Add bed bugs to that list. I got them last month. $800 later, I think they're gone. But you can't really be sure for months.

Now the stink bugs are congregating outside on my deck. Ugh.
