No, they don't bite. And they should be mostly gone by now (at least they are at my house). I don't know why they want to be inside your car unless maybe it's warm? If you park it in a garage, maybe that would help?

Or, do they leave when it gets colder?
I'd imagine it's warmer inside my car than outside.

The problem is, my car sits outside all day; it's outside when I'm at work and then, I can't even park it in the garage because the design of the garage is so ill-conceived, it won't fit in there =/

At least it's good to know they don't bite. It's better than having a bee or a gigantic spider in my car, that's for sure.

We had hundreds in the house in September, and now they're almost all gone. I would say we have like 40 in the house left. A huge reduction.

When you say they're gone, does that mean you killed them? Or did they leave on their own recognizance? or did they just die off?

I'm not sure if they die off or just go into hibernation.

I have been living in NoVA for quite a few years but I do not remember seeing so many stink bugs as we had them this year (was it something "special" about this year or what?). I hate stink bugs, too! But at least they are not as scary looking as cicadas... What was that year when we had huge "invasion" of cicadas??? It was awful! And when is the next time for them to come back?

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but we've been spotting one or two a day or every other day. And they do bite, and like any bug bite, not pleasant. This one leaves a welt. They are attracted to light. The only good news is they lay eggs on vegetation, so chances are they aren't breeding here, but they are getting in FROM SOMEWHERE? The attic?

I've found two so-called solutions: one lady has a jar filled w/ soapy water and she just flicks them in there and puts the lid on. Another guy, turns off the heat and opens every window, they will die when the temperature reaches freezing. (Turn off heat, open windows and go out for the day?) They are resistent to most insecticides. (I'm looking into the sticky strips, like fly paper).

Why am I so freaked out? last night I felt something on my face, my cheek to be exact. In my half sleep, I brushed it but knew it was a bug. Turned on the light and there it was. No problem, only now I am wide a awake. Computer right there, I reach over to turn on something to listen to....good, right? Another stinkbug walks across the screen. OMG! Leave to sleep somewhere else in the house. Bed dismantled, and of course, no more to be seen.

I want these suckers gone. I've put them in the toilet w/ tissue and watched in amazement as it swam to the bowel and tried to crawl out......if I wasn't watching, it could have escaped.

And those camel crickets.....yep, downstairs, in the basement, but they don't come up the stairs. I like to believe they eat stinkbugs.

I HATE STINKBUGS.

Cute little stinkies.

I think interacting with stinkbugs illustrates the 'treat others as you would like to be treated' ethic better than any other type of interaction I can think of. If you're nice to the little stinkies and gently take them outside, you will not suffer for it. They're very slow-moving (especially the ones I find in my house.. I have a feeling some of them are physically disabled for some reason by the time I find them) and won't mind being scooted onto a little tissue/into a cup/whatever and taken outside (to where it's very cold right now, admittedly.. brrr ). However, if you insist on smashing/injuring them, you will have to face the stench of retribution!!!

Granted, I've never had a true stinkbug infestation on a very large scale, as it sounds SmartMoney has, so I can't speak to that sort of situation.

Sorry to hear that, smartmoney. Our stinkbugs were here for a week or so and then continued migrating through. Maybe your house is unusually cozy so they decided to stay?
