I have uncomplicated, shoulder-length hair (not ethnic) and am looking for a stylist, having just moved to the area. Where (and from whom) can I get a good cut without spending over $40-ish? Thanks!

I've heard great things about the hair cuttery in tysons- also, can try victoria station on beulah.. just give a big thumbs down to salon daniel (though that is a higher price range)- what a nightmare experience..

You can get a good cut for about $40 at PR@Partners in Oakton (near the Famous Daves).

Several members of my family went to Victoria Station on Beulah for years and liked it - but a woman's cut is going to be closer to $60 (even before a tip).

A comparable place in McLean is probably Eclips rather than Salon Daniel.

Christine at bellini salon in Vienna is good and I think her range is 40-50, they have a website with a price list.

Eclips in Mclean is awesome...but pricey. My stylist just went up to $65.

Thanks for the recs! Ok, now would there be a place that is, price-wise and cut-wise inbetween Hair Cuttery and the higher-end salons?

Bubbles Salons are owned by the woman who owns Hair Cuttery. A family owns Hair Cuttery. Bubbles was designed by the woman owner of the business to provide a more upscale service. Haircuts there probably start around $40 or $50.

Stylists there are usually required to have a bit more experience than what is required from Hair Cuttery stylists. They often do hire new stylists but from the better schools, like Graham Webb. One of my stylists told me that if I was ever in a haircut "bind" I'd be fairly safe going to Bubbles. Graham Webb graduates will often start their career there to "get their speed up" before moving to a higher end salon.

My DD used the Fair Oaks location once and got one of the better haircuts she's ever had. The Tysons location is probably pretty good too.

A friend of mine works at Rodi Salon and Spa in McLean. She's gotten really good reviews on Yelp. Go and ask for Sat.. I believe for your first visit you get 20% off.
