First off let me thank you for everyone's help in advance. Having moved to NOVA a few years ago without knowing a soul, this board has been very helpful.

In the last few months I have been suffering from migraines. They seemed to get under control under the past 7 days they have not improved and I have had one during this time period. Basically, I do not like my current neurologist and am looking for a new one in the Fairfax who specializes in migraines. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you so much!

Not trying to play doctor here but only advising what's happened with my grown daughter. She's been seeking treatment (In NC) for migraines for the last year or so. She was just recently diagnosed with TMJ which apparently is the cause of her pain and it may not even be migraines. Just a thought. Good luck with the treatment.

I recommend Dr. Lawrence Zarchin. I don't know if he is still practicing, but I found his information online (same place and number) so he must be. While I didn't see him for migraines, I found him to be very conscientious and knowledgeable. Here is his info: Suite 400, 3020 Hamaker Court Fairfax, VA 22031 - (703) 876-0800

Thanks for the suggestions--I will look into the one doctor. Basically, my current doctor has me over medicated and doesn't really seem to want to help other than collect a fee.

I can make a suggestion that you might want to discuss with your doctor. I have had migraines since in my 20's (I am now 70). When I was diagnosed with high blood pressure in my mid 30's, my doctor prescribed Inderal (a beta blocker) and I have not had a full blown, have to go to bed, migraine since. I do have the aura from time to time, (flashing lights and blind spot in my eye and some nausea) but it passes within an hour or two. It is worth mentioning to your doctor.

The Washingtonian magazine puts out a best doctors issue every couple of years where they list specialties like neurology. I remember seeing several that specialize in headaches.
