Hi

My husband recently took a job with Homeland Security in Virginia and we are currently in the process of buying a condo and moving to NOVA - he's there now. I'm a Human Resources professional and my exp is primarily in hospitals and medical centers - could anyone point me in the direction of what local hospitals are in the surrounding area???

Also, if I took a job in DC how painful would that commute really be???

There are about a dozen actual hospitals in NoVa. Probably the biggest ones would be Fairfax, Fair Oaks, Alexandria, and Arlington (now Virginia Hospital Center). The first three are all run by Inova, with Fairfax, which was also the first hospital to open in the County (1961), being the big, high profile, jewel of the system. All of these are in the middle of suburban areas, so they are pretty easy to live near and commute to.

The complete list with links to each is here...

painful. traffic going in and out everyday is a no go. If you want to work in the medical field and your human resources you should work on base at Belvoir for their hospital, great pay, great benefits and very flexible. There pretty much is a job for anyone on base. Its also a hike from Leesburg but more of a east west hike, not a north south 1,000,000 + people hike

Loudoun County has Loudoun Hospital (I think it's now run by INOVA) in Lansdowne-just a few miles from Leesburg. There has been talk of them building a second hospital in Ashburn or near South Riding, but we may never see it in our lifetimes. There is a Kaiser Permanente building in Ashburn. Reston Hospital is the next closest hospital to Leesburg. Good luck with your job search.

YES..Landsdowne area has the big INOVA hospital and all the medical offices surrounding it.. Big medical complex. (15min form Leesburg proper)
called INOVA loudoun hospital

Reston Hospital is a bit futher but not bad at all. (30min)
Reston Medical center

Also right in Leesburg is the old hospital that INOVA bought and turned into a 24 hour emergency care unit. There are plans to bulid more into this area as a medical center
called Cornwall Emergency center

INOVA Health Systems is huge here....703-858-6000

If you look on yellowbook.com under Loudoun County you will see many options for employement within 30min of leesburg...DC would be an AWFUL commute...at best 90 during rush hour.

also Prince William Hospital in Manassas is closer than DC

Thanks! Most of these I've been to and I really don't see anything interesting. I think it may be time for me to transition of healthcare and join the tech industry that's what I see a lot of posted. :-(
