My husband and I have lived in Northern VA our whole lives, but we are now living on our own and looking for a more affordable and safe place to raise our two children. We have thought about moving completely out of state, but would really like to make it work here since both of our immediate family lives here and we love the area, obviously. We were told about some houses for sale in Blooms Mill by our realtor and I was wondering if anyone had some advice about the area. I know all too well about the reputation of Manassas (and that particular development is actually Manassas Park, right?) and am very skeptical of that development being in a good part. Thanks in advance!

Blooms Mill is a newer area of Manassas Park. Since we all have ideas of good vs. bad reputations/neighorhoods, why don't you just drive out there and see for yourself? Manassas Park is still a part of Northern VA, it can't be all that far from where you're living now. Go during the day on the weekend and talk to any of the folks doing yardwork or whatever about their opinions of the neighborhood. One or both of you should go back again late on random weekend nights to see if there's ongoing activity that you don't approve of.

I guess I should've clarified that we've lived in Fairfax County our whole lives, to be specific over just Northern VA. Anyways, thanks for your response. We plan on driving over there, but just wanted a pretty good idea of the surrounding area since neither one of us has lived over there.

Hello, looking2movesoon
Do you mind me asking why you decided against it?
In addition, did you look at Manassas at all and did you like it, if so?
Thanks

Although you decided against Blooms Mill I'd just like to add my two cents in case anyone happens upon this thread. My husband and I live in Blooms Mill and were the first ones to actually move in (townhouse section). We have lived there since 2003. I think it is a nice community, convenient (right off 28). It is close to Manassas Park and there are some rentals across the way but actually we have never really been bothered by anyone. The neighbors are generally friendly and if given the choice to move in Manassas I would not hesitate to pick Blooms Mill again.

Default Clarification

I'd also like to clarify that the Blooms Mill Community is actually in Prince William County, not Manassas Park (although very close to it). Not only are the homes newer and nice (with choices of single family homes vs. townhomes vs. carriage homes), it's right off of Route 28 (convenient to get to 66), but it's also within walking distance to the train station to head into the city for folks working there (the ride is only about 38-40min to Alexandria, compare that to sitting in traffic from this location)! I've lived there since 2003 and I haven't had any complaints myself. Check out the website of the community for yourself: Blooms Mill - At Historic Manassas, Virginia

I hope this helped!

Blooms Mill is very nice. The neighborhood itself is quite lovely. Someone might decide that is is too far from DC et al. or might not like it for other reasons, but I have visited friends there multiple, multiple times and it is extremely peaceful, familial, etc.

We just purchased a TH in Blooms Mill. How do we get a post office box and key? Does this fall under the US Post Office or Bloom Mill HOA? Thank you
