A cornfield might be pretty good. Sometimes a pumpkin patch is good too, as long as you shoot the photos before Halloween. If you wait too long, all the pumpkins might get stolen or smashed.

Or if it's too cold, taking pictures in front of a hot fireplace on a bearskin rug might be better.

If you want fall photos of trees changing color, Skyline Drive is always a good place to go, if you're lucky enough to go at just the right time, after the leaves have turned into all sorts of bright colors, but before they fall off the trees.

Those are a few suggestions. But they are your pictures. Use your imagination.

Old Ashburn by Carolina Brothers and the W&OD Trail has some pretty older homes.

You could also head to Great Falls or White's Ferry for river pictures. There are lots of country roads, particularly in Western Loudoun. The Appalachian Trial runs along Weather Mountain and the views from there are spectacular.

Best of luck.

A lot of photographers use Legacy Park in Brambleton, especially near the pond just west of Belmont Ridge Road. There are two short wooden bridges in that park, decorative black benches, etc. I have also seen people taking pictures in the area south of the main Brambleton waterfall (on Legacy Park Drive just south of Ryan Road, east of Belmont Ridge Road).

Depends on what you are trying to photograph. If you want landscape / nature I would suggest Algonkian or some of the other areas previously suggested. If you are trying to get some photos taken of family / individuals with a fall feel, I think the Brambleton suggestions are a good choice. I did some photos for a family there last year.

Shenandoah Skyline Drive ... when the leaves actually turning "fall" go ahead and hit that way...you'll find some scenes that you like.

The Algonkian Park and Great Falls are also great options for a combo of fall colours + the Potomac River.

And as far as Great Falls goes, there are some amazing views from the Billy Goat Trail on the Maryland side. The Virginia side is also good though.

The only problem with Shenandoah, which has some really stunning fall foliage, is that unless you can go on a weekday it gets incredibly crowded when fall colours peak. Just entering the park and driving through Skyline Drive can be an ordeal with a huge line of cars. This is why I don't like it, because I personally don't like seeing the park from my car and in Shenandoah during peak fall foliage you'll be spending a lot of time in your car.

The Maryland side also has pretty backdrops of the old tavern and the C & O canal with the mule-drawn boats
(they still do that, don't they? I know we did it with our kids when they were young).
