Hello.

The general opinion seems to be that dealerships are rip offs when it comes to any non-warranty service and maintenance affairs.

So, what are the recommendations to get a Honda or an Acura serviced in northern Virginia?

Also, these non-dealership places, do they use oils recommended for different vehicle respectively?

Thanks.

After tons of research and trail and error (including bad dealership experiences), we found a small place called WB Motors at 3767 Pickett road (703-978-7000). We've had brakes, oil changes and some more complicated stuff done there and been really happy with the prices and the service. My husband knows something about cars, so he's picky.

I like Ashburn Service and Tire in Ashburn Village shopping center. We have two Honda's (Pilot and Accord) and they always did a great job for us.

I like Curry's Auto (Auto Repair - Curry's Auto Service of Northern Virginia). I've gone to the one in Reston/Great Falls in Vienna, VA.

It would help to know your location. I'd hate to recommend a place in Manassas if you lived in Alexandria or somewhere like that.

If you read through all the threads in the fav. business sticky you'll see some recommendations (I for one recommend the Shell in Alexandria at Duke & Pickett, quite a few others agreed) - but as Bigfoot stated, depends on where you live.

In Vienna I would recommend C & C Garage.

I haven't used them since I moved to Springfield, but you've got to check out the Car Doctor on Rt. 29 near Merrifield. They specialize in Japanese cars and they are the absolute best when it comes to honesty and fairness. I've never felt like I was being ripped off, and I believe their labor rates are about half what you'd pay at a dealership. Granted, this was quite a while ago, but I did notice that the place was still there when I drove by about 3 months ago.
