We are looking for a large oriental silk screen (the sort that are used for room dividers). A quick google search brought up a place called Abaca in Alexandria, but their website is down. Before I drive all the way down there to check it out, has anyone been to this store? Did you like it?

Also, does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm sure there must be several great stores selling oriental art or oriental furniture.

No responses at all? Hmm, this must not be a big store, I guess. I would have thought several of the people near Alexandria would have checked it out. The description makes it sound like an interesting store to browse through.

There used to be a furniture store in Landmark Mall that sold asian furniture. I think it was near Macys. I don't know if it is still there.

I have seen room dividers at World Market but they looked more like shoji screens.

Thanks Pandoras. I guess I'll just drive down to Alexandria and check the store out. Hope it's worth it. I'm surprised there isn't something closer, like in Eden Center. (Of course, maybe there is, and I just don't know about it.)

Their site is working as of 8:39 am. I was looking for tiny little blue and white bowls. Peir 1 is still good for that. Not much in the screen department.

I have been there, and I like it a lot. Tons of nice stuff, and nice employees. I'd go more often, but are rarely in that area. Definately more upscale than Pier 1.

If you are willing to buy online, I recommend Oriental Furniture.

We have purchased two room dividers and one piece of furniture from them so far. Absolutely love this place.

If you feel like driving 2 hours, the Williamsburg Pottery Factory has an impressive collection of oriental art. Call first to make sure they still have it, since I haven't been there for a few years.
