I need to get from Mclean to Reston around noon on a weekday and I don't think I'll have a car. What's the best way to do this in a reasonable amout of time? Would a cab cost $50? It's only about 11 miles. If I went the metro route, would it better to get off at Vienna or somewhere else and grab a bus?

(if only the Silver Line was in!)

If you can somehow get to the West Falls Church Metro station, the Fairfax Connector (Route 505) runs from there out to Reston every 15 minutes (starting at five past the hour). Run time is 15 minutes to Wiehle Avenue, 25 minutes to Reston Town Center...

I would rent a car. If you could swing it on a Friday or Monday, you could rent a car from Enterprise for three days for $55 total inclusive of tax but not including optional coverages.

I'm trying to avoid the car rental since it would only be for that one day. My son will be chauffering me around the rest of the weekend I'm there. :-) The day I need to go from Mclean to Reston is a Thursday.

I had heard about the Fairfax County Connector so that is good info. That may be the most economical but I may just spring for the cab too if I"m in a hurry.

Thanks for the info!
