I just bought a house in Gainesville and ended up in the Carterwood subdivsiion. I heard there is a community swimming pool in the Piedmont subdivision. Is this open to adjacent communities or is there another one I shoudl check out? I hav e 2 kids and I would like to take them to the pool over the summer. Thanks!

Mark

I would call the Piedmont association and ask if they allow outside families to buy a pool membership. I know some communities do allow it, for example my friend who lives in Montclair in Dumfries told me her association will allow people to buy pool memberships.

How old are your kids, and do they have interest in being in a swim team? I know a lot of the local communities in Bristow/Gainesville have swim teams and will allow non-residents to join the swim teams--I'm not sure if that makes the swim team participants elligible to use the pool for recreation during non-swim team times or not...

If none of those options work for you, maybe check and see about season passes at Splashdown in Manassas

Piedmont does have a "social membership" that allows nonresidents to use the pool and tennis courts as well as use of the clubhouse and social functions (but not golf course). Can't remember how much it cost, but it's a year-round membership, not just for the summer (though they also do have an indoor pool for the winter months). We did do it one year and the monthly fee wasn't outrageous, just can't remember how much...
