Have to attend a meeting for 3 days in downtown Baltimore next month. Debating getting a hotel room but would rather commute if at all feasible. I know this will be a nightmare, but does anyone have any ideas about how bad it will be? I'll have to be in Baltimore by about 8:30 am. Am I better off taking Rt 15 to 70 or dealing with 66, Beltway, I-95? How about the train? TIA

I had a similar dilemma last year (Reston to Baltimore), and decided to stay in Baltimore. I was not willing to waste time and gas for those few days. My husband had to fend for himself with the kiddo. Do yourself a favor and get a hotel room.

VRE from Bristow to Union Station. Amtrak from Union Station to Penn Station (downtown Baltimore). Depending on where the conference is in downtown, you can walk or catch a cab.

dod 236 is exactly right. If the train doesnt work, I would suggest Rt 15 as well...its probably farther to drive but would probably be better traffic.

The problem with the 15 to 70 route is you're at the mercy of those in front of you on 15. There is nothing more infuriating than getting behind slow traffic for miles on 15. Get a hotel room in Baltimore or you're looking at 3 to 4 or more hours in the car each day.

depends on when you get out--meetings can be unpredictable with end times so the train might be nuisance. (would be for me). take the hotel and have fun in baltimore. there are lots of good places to eat in fells point and canton. not to mention, the harbor is always nice. enjoy it and take in a new scene.
